Every person that moves to Mexico with their household belongings is required to prepare an extensive list detailing exactly what they are bringing into Mexico. This list is known as the Menaje de Casa.
In the case of electrical appliances, the make, model and serial number must also be noted in the manifest which is then taken to the Mexican consulate for certification. The problem is that this list must be prepared in Spanish! Obviously, preparing such a list can take many hours and is definitely a tedious affair if you are not familiar with the language.
